A Tiny Band of Mountaineers

            Virginia, is motherland of all 50 states.  She was the first permanent home of white settlers in a wonderful virgin continent.  Virginia Dare, her first daughter, was born here.  Royalty and commoner alike settled here in uncommon allegiance to a new and unique endeavor.  To Mother Virginia we dedicate our cause but her conjoined twin is like no other. 

West Virginia is more than a state, it is “Almost Heaven.”  We intend that the memory of its early settlers are not lost in the mist of the mountains.  Our goal is to preserve their history and their stories; their joys and their tears.  The owners of this site concentrate their time and efforts in transcribing and preserving the written history of this great state.  We encourage, nay solicit, the works of others who love this beautiful state and her people as we do.  We welcome your books, pictures, recipes or anything pertaining to any area of the state’s heritage.

            There are 55 beautiful counties in this wonderful and wild state. All are linked by a common thread, the Mountaineer Spirit.  Within the sheltered mountain valleys is the essence and roots of our being.  The stories that gran’pap told as we sat on his knee and the songs that grandma sang as she cooked the evening meal; we refuse to allow the echoes of that to lose its way before we can capture it within the shelter of those who love her.

            We are just "A Tiny Band of Mountaineers" who specialize in Genealogy and Historical books.  Our primary focus is on West Virginia but we have a wide variety of books and articles from all across this great country.  Check back with us often as we are constantly adding new books or make a suggestion and we will try to find an old out of print book for you.
